Influencing others should come naturally and spontaneously; where authority and respect are earned but not imposed; influence will enable you to achieve success in your home, work, or any area of your life.
Leadership (a specific use of influence) is at its lowest when it is based on position alone; and it increases, and reaches a higher level, as you develop relationships with others; that is when they (others) will allow you to lead beyond the boundaries of your job description.
"Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less" John C. Maxwell
Delegating is a simple task that can have disastrous consequences if there is not excellent leadership and great influence before doing so.
First, Lead and Influence people and then Delegate the different tasks.
The following steps integrate the three concepts (Leadership, Influence and Delegation):
Remember: Show how it's done, Do it together, Let him do it alone…

Delegating is a simple task that can have disastrous consequences if there is not excellent leadership and great influence before doing so.
First, Lead and Influence people and then Delegate the different tasks.
The following steps integrate the three concepts (Leadership, Influence and Delegation):
- Show How It's Done: Example is the best way to lead with influence. Before you expect someone to do something you want or need them to do, show them how it's done.
- Do it Together: Once you have set the example of how to do something, accompanying the leader in the process is a powerful action towards learning.
- Let them do it alone: The final step is to give the person (or team) the confidence and empowerment necessary to do the task alone. Likewise, this does not mean that as a leader you cannot be close to any eventuality and without neglecting follow-up; however, at this point you have delegated a task supported by leadership and influence, which will surely continue to be replicated successfully.
Remember: Show how it's done, Do it together, Let him do it alone…
